So, this must be a good thing! The eleventh (wow) Internet SprINT was held back in August. We apologize for the delay in getting the results out - but at least they are done before the next SprINT. In case you missed the announcement, the next SprINT is coming on December 22nd UTC at 0200Z. We will use 80 and 40 meters this time. There was an interesting event on the power grid about 3 hours before the contest. In Oregon, the lights dimmed for a second, but in many other places on the west coast, the lights went out for several hours. This might have had an impact on the activity. It certainly confused K2MM and AE0M who both tried to turn the event in to Field Day. More on that later on in our report. Finally - we get to answer the question that has been burning in many people's minds: "Who came in second?" NJ2L and N5RZ tried to keep up with N6TR, but after one lap, they threw in the towel, leaving Tree in position to win by a whopping 49 QSOs. Not much suspense here. However, it was a different story in the race for second place. There were a large number of stations fighting it out for second place with claimed scores between 100 and 106. When the smoke finally cleared in the log checking room, Derek - AA5BT, squeeked through with the second highest score with 98 QSOs. After Derek, we have a tie between W6RGG and WB5B. There is a nice horse race graph showing the competition between these 3 stations. Finally, another tie at 93 between WD0T and W7ZRC rounded out the top six scores. Activity was slow coming to 40 meters, with the activity there pretty sparse until 90 minutes into the contest. As a result, more than two thirds of all the QSOs were made on 20 meters. Overall, activity was down as well. The total number QSOs detected nearly matched the low mark set in October 1993. However, through the careful work of Mr. LogZap, a new high in the percentage QSOs matched was acheived: 95.3 percent! Good work John!!! Congratulations to our two Golden Log winners!! Dick Norton, N6AA made 13 QSOs without any score reductions. N0AT also had a perfect log with one QSO! Hope we have a replay of last December's SprINT. It was the biggest ever by a LARGE margin. The name John showed up OK in all three logs. W1UA then worked KZ4H who recorded Jon in his log. Either W1UA mis-sent the name or KZ4H mis-copied or mis-logged the name on his QSO #7. KZ4H then passed Jon along to the next station he worked with his QSO #8. Jon survived until W6GO copied it on his last QSO. WB2OEU started with Fred which showed up OK in WB2RKK's log. RKK then worked WB2WOI who did not send in a log. But WOI's next QSO# was found in WA2UWA's log, and UWA recorded Stinky. The error may have occurred anywhere between RKK sending and UWA receiving. UWA then passed Stinky with his QSO #17, and Stinky eventually made it into WA2EAH's enormous log. EAH then worked WA2CCF, who did not send in a log, and the trace was lost. Along the way, the name passed through at least two consecutive stations who did not send in logs. The other station didn't think the QSO complete, and so continued by sending Dave on his next QSO without putting ZND in his log. Meanwhile, ZND blissfully passed on the freshly cloned Dave with his #12. Dave made it OK to WA1HCO who passed it to WA1IQJ. But IQJ was cluelessly sending Don to everybody, including the next station he worked, WA1PID. This Don survived until he got to WB2FZO.
